I don't have much experience with amps but you can visit www.head-fi.org That's where I do all of my reading. I currently use a Ray Samuels Audio "The Tomahawk" and I absolutely love it. There are plenty of very nice amps at the $100 mark.

Yeah, I have a friend who's working there as well. She says she gets paid over time... so who knows, it probably varies from place to place? I never trust those places to get my ears pierced anyways.
I hope they didn't force your friend into getting the piercings... that would be horrible.
