I have a 30gb I pod video classic and was thinking of upgrading to the 80 gb I pod classic. I saw that the 80gb zune goes for $249 and the i pod 80gb goes for the same price. I was wondering is it better to get a zune player instead of a i pod?

30gb ipod classic? never heard of 30gb ipod video classic, only heard of 30gb ipod video or 80gb ipod classic or 160gb ipod classic. and if i get to choose between 80gb ipod classic and 80gb zune, i'll go with a zune, has touchpad, video out, 3.2" monitor, plays mp4 format i think.. so zune is the best choice.

They are calling the ipod video the ipod classic now. The new ipod is the ipod touch (the one like the cellphone without it being a cellphone). I may have to go and check out the zune, I heard that you can also transfer songs wirelessly with the zune.

yup.. zune is the choice.. dont go with the ipod.. ipods are stupid.. even though i have a ipod shuffle which i got it for free.. im planning to get either a zune 8gb or 80gb..

Hrm I should be studying right now but I give a quick answer right now. The wireless sync certainly is an awesome feature. Especially if you choose to get purchase a dock with the Zune. Encoding depends on how good your computer is. I haven't tried encoding myself as of yet. I typically just go to Zune forums and download movies and TV shows because it’s already coded and playable on Zune. If you want I can further elaborate more but after finals. >.< Another great feature is that you can send music to other Zunes. There is even a way bypass the 3 play restriction. So in a way you can get pretty much get full albums from other Zune owners without ever meeting them. I plan to use this feature a lot next semester in class.

The only downside so far is that the Zune currently does not support asian characters. It’s disappointing because 80% of my entire music collection end up being displayed as rectangular boxes for the title and album. There are ways around it but I'll just wait until Microsoft includes it in their firmware updates

I have an extra Zune 80 unopened that I bought for $256 that I'm trying to sell. But I figure that it'll prolly be easier to return it back to the store.

on the zune 80gb, i heard that ppl can just put the 30gb zune unicode on the 80gb to let it read other language... and yea.. the zune is kind of disappionted by not having chinese language... almost all the mp3 players now have chinese as an option for language... i sooo want a zune still >.<
